This four disc collection is the combined Sherlock Holmes Double Feature Volume One and Sherlock Holmes Double Feature Volume Two at a lower price than purchasing the sets separately. This four disc set includes Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon (1943), Woman In Green (1945), Terror By Night (1946) and Dressed To Kill (1946). These films star Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. John Watson. The following are brief synopsis for the four films, you can get expanded descriptions of the films and cast lists by checking out the separate volumes offered on this site.
Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon (1943)
Holmes and Watson seek to recover stolen bombsight components. Rathbone is his usual suave self and several Holmsian disguises are well carried out. As evil as Moriarty has always been it's a bit of a shock to see he's signed up with Hitler. Has the man no vestige of decency? Lionel Atwill as Moriarty is deliciously evil.
Woman In Green (1945)
Holmes and Watson are embroiled in solving a series of particularly gruesome crimes of murder and mutilation of young women in London. In the title role, lovely Hillary Brooke never loses her icy cool. Henry Daniell as Moriarty in the part of Evil Personified, being cold as ice.
Terror By Night (1946)
Holmes and Watson must protect a precious diamond, The Star of Rhodesia, on a train bound for Scotland. This movie portrayed the elements of a great case, lots of suspects, a dark atmosphere, a few murders, and a plot twist at the end. The identity of the killer and their relation to a previous Holmes villain is ingenious.
Dressed to Kill (1946)
Holmes and Watson on the trail of a ruthless gang intent on securing three seemingly innocuous music boxes. The boxes come from a workshop in one of England's famous prisons. They contain the clues needed to retrieve a fortune in the form of the plates of the Bank of England's five pound note.
The cost of this item is $18.99. This is good quality picture and sound. This DVD comes with artwork, label and case. See provided images above, these images are of the actual items.
