The Smokey Robinson Show
12/19/70 ~ ABC-TV Smokey Robinson, with guests The Supremes (without Diana Ross), The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, and Fran Jeffries. This special was essentially a launching pad for Smokey’s solo career without The Miracles who had been together since 1955. For this special, only 2 of “The Miracles†agreed to perform with Smokey, and he officially left the group 2 years later. Highlights: Smokey Robinson: “Somethingâ€, and “People Get Readyâ€; --The Temptations: “Ball Of Confusionâ€, and “Get Readyâ€; --The Supremes: “Up The Ladder Of Love†(their first post-Diana Ross hit); --Stevie Wonder: “My Cherie Amourâ€; Fran Jeffries: “Somethings Coming Onâ€; everyone joins in for the final of “Friendship Trainâ€. Has producer’s counter numbers onscreen. 53 minutes, with commercials edited out. A
