the rare and hard to find japanese weekly tv series based on the movies. it stars the same actor as in the movies; katsu shintaro. japanese language with english subtitles. zatoichi monogatari dvd set. premiered in 1974. this set contains episodes 1 thru 72 (there were 98 episodes made), and i also have the last two episodes of the series, episodes 97 and 98. the series ends with a two part grand finale that is a serious psychedelic trip. 23 dvds. quality is good considering its rarity, about an 8 out of 10. ps. if interested i also have the true original zatoichi, the 1962 movie that started off the whole franchise, it too stars katsu, its very good.
