The series revolves around a fictional elite crime unit of the Honolulu Police DepartmentMichael Biehn of and John Declan (played by Sharif Atkins of ER / Chicago Police Department detective transferred to the state of Hawaii for his talents.
The series was cancelled in October 2004. Although eight episodes were filmed, only seven actually aired.
Although the series had consultants from Hawaii to oversee the series production, the show was criticized on showing the more scenic aspects of Hawaii and not going into details about the more gritter side of it. It was also criticized for keeping much of the negative stereotypes of native Hawaiians that have been seen in other shows filmed in Hawaii in the past. Finally, many Native Hawaiian and Asian American viewers objected to the fact that the show had fewer Native Hawaiians and/or Asian Americans on the regular cast than "Hawaii Five-O", which premiered on CBS in 1968.
